Our international work in the region engages leaders from industry, government, academia, civil society, and more through signature events like our annual Global Conference and curated, local roundtables and meetings. Through our on-the-ground staff and deep partnerships throughout the region, we foster regional and international development and growth.

Europe faces some great challenges in the decade ahead. Whether it be accelerating the energy transition, harnessing the promise of emerging technologies or financing the continent’s defence and security needs. Equally, we've seen a rising energy to make the UK and Europe competitive over the next decade. Against this backdrop, the Milken Institute’s Europe team aims to bring its global network of investors, policymakers, thought leaders and philanthropists together to identify innovative solutions and channel global capital to scale their impact.

Our approach is two-fold: we leverage the power of the wider Milken Institute’s global convenings and communities to create a channel for regional leaders to share their challenges and explore solutions with our wider network. Secondly, our local team convenes relevant experts in curated roundtables and workshops to diagnose issues in depth, understand the barriers and opportunities for capital deployment in critical areas, and propose policy changes to unlock investment and growth. 

Our work in the Asia-Pacific region stems from deep engagement with leaders in government, business, academia, and civil society. We conduct in-depth research and analysis on pressing issues, convene thought leaders at invite-only and public events, and inform policy decisions to foster regional development and growth. 

Financial Innovations Labs® (FIL) are the Milken Institute's signature, applied research projects, designed to devise new business models, policy recommendations, capital structures, and financial technologies that can achieve concrete goals. By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, FIL encourages collaboration among parties who may not normally interact to address global challenges by examination through a financial lens, leading to outcomes that influence the flow of capital to promote progress and change.

Many communities face barriers to funding the critical infrastructure needed for long-term growth. The 10,000 Communities Initiative works with public and private partners nationwide to connect people, projects, and capital in support of equitable investment in lasting community resilience.

The ICAP Program works to shape an economy that
delivers long-term, shared value—benefiting businesses,
investors, employees, customers, governments, and
communities alike. We drive market efficiency through
economic inclusion and mobility by expanding
participation in leadership and capital allocation, unlocking access to capital, and building sustainable pathways for high-potential talent.

The Lifetime Financial Security workstream identifies systemic problems, public policies, and individual behavior that contribute to lower levels of financial security over time and into retirement, while advancing strategies and solutions that encourage and enhance long-term savings and investing, allowing everyone to be financially secure at all stages of their lives.

The FinTech, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation work explores market innovation and developments, analyzes alternative regulatory approaches, and offers policy recommendations to facilitate FinTech’s responsible development and to foster a more favorable economic environment for small businesses and entrepreneurs. We engage and educate policymakers and stakeholders to improve access to capital, financial inclusion, transparency, and compliance. Our guiding principle is to ensure that financial technology innovations and entrepreneurial opportunities are accessible to individuals and businesses while increasing the stability and efficiency of the US financial system.

The Environmental and Social Innovation portfolio works with philanthropists, companies, and impact investors to uncover and support promising solutions, apply new tools, and mobilize entrepreneurial talent to advance progress in entrenched environmental and social challenges. 

Science Philanthropy Accelerator for Research and Collaboration (SPARC) works to develop, launch, and lead initiatives that propel scientific and medical research. We target investments that accelerate the development of tools and treatments, bringing better health to millions of people.
