John Schellhase

Director, Milken Institute Strategic Philanthropy

John Schellhase is a director of Strategic Philanthropy at the Milken Institute. He contributes to and manages projects related to strengthening corporate philanthropy, including overseeing the Institute’s Corporate Philanthropy Leadership Collective. Prior to his current role, he directed field operations and testing for the Milken-Motsepe Prize and led projects focused on capital market development in emerging and frontier markets as part of the Institute's financial markets work. He has also worked as an international development consultant, with clients including the World Bank, the government of Rwanda’s Capital Markets Authority, and Financial Sector Deepening Africa. 

Schellhase holds a master of science in global affairs from New York University, where he focused on international economic development with a regional emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa. Before his graduate studies, he served for two years as a US Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. Based in Madrid, Spain, he is part of the Institute's growing team in Europe.
