Capital for Conservation: The Business Case for Nature and Wildlife

-

It is estimated that at least a quarter of all species on Earth are currently vulnerable or endangered, largely due to habitat loss. If current trends continue, it is possible that many of these species could become extinct by 2050. As we reflect on Dr. Jane Goodall’s legacy of leadership and impact for conservation around the world—especially at such a turbulent time for climate and environmental initiatives—what does this work require moving forward? What approaches have proven to be most effective in protecting ecosystems and threatened species? How can conservation finance models such as public–private partnerships, carbon and biodiversity credits, community-led stewardship, and investment in eco-tourism protect wildlife and habitats while driving economic growth? Join this panel of conservation leaders and investors to explore how we can mobilize philanthropic, private, and institutional capital to help protect ecosystems and improve conditions for all life on Earth—including ourselves.
