Juan M. Lavista Ferres is Microsoft’s Chief Data Scientist and Corporate Vice President. He serves as the Director of the Microsoft AI for Good Lab and the Director of the Microsoft AI Economy Institute. He leads a team of data scientists and researchers who specialize in applying AI and statistical modeling in projects spanning sustainability, humanitarian action, accessibility, and health. He is the co-author of the 'AI for Good' book and is a featured TED speaker.
Juan holds two computer science degrees from the Catholic University of Uruguay, a graduate degree in data mining and machine learning from Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD with a focus on AI in healthcare from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
