Chan Harjivan has spent his career focused on preserving and protecting the health of populations. These days, he also supports a few start-ups, and organizations focused on public health and spends time with friends and family.
He previously oversaw preparedness and response to biological threats at the White House and across the United States Government, driving efforts in research and development, diagnostics, vaccines, and supply chain resilience. Safeguarding public health through strategic planning, industry/country collaboration, and innovative solutions for biological threat readiness.
He cofounded SaponiQx, one of the first life sciences generative AI companies, valued at $250 million on exit. Its key product, STIMULON™ QS-21, is a crucial component in vaccines such as GSK's Shingrix.
He was a key architect of $18 billion Operation Warp Speed, sat side by side with the US Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Preparedness and Response, as well as senior leadership including the CEO and the chief operating officer, from its inception through vaccine rollout across the Trump and Biden administrations. The program is credited with saving an estimated 15 million lives and $1 trillion in economic impact.
He previously served as managing director and partner at Boston Consulting Group, where he founded and led the US public sector health practice. As a partner at PwC, he founded and led the global public health practice. Over a 20-year career, he worked with leaders of major pharmaceutical companies and global health organizations.
He has chaired and presented at numerous conferences and has been quoted in or contributed to publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The Financial Times, Modern Healthcare, the World Economic Forum, Vanity Fair, and Esquire, among others.
