Managing Director, Global Head of Sustainable and Infrastructure Finance, Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Karen Fang is the Global Head of Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance at Bank of America and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. In this role, she leads cross-platform efforts across the bank’s eight lines of business to deliver structured capital solutions in the energy, power, and digital infrastructure sectors, with a particular focus on financing global power generation and the rapidly expanding ecosystem of AI-driven data centers. She also oversees the firm’s enterprise-wide sustainable finance strategy, including the ten-year goal to mobilize and deploy $1.5 trillion in sustainable finance capital by 2030.

A recognized leader in the global sustainable finance industry, Karen leads various infrastructure and sustainable finance task forces convened by the United Nations, G7, B20/G20, COP, and the World Economic Forum (WEF). She also serves on the Climate Advisory Council of the Rockefeller Foundation. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), where she sits on the Finance Committee and the Digital Transformation Task Force.

Karen has been named to Fortune’s “40 Under 40” and honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. In 2024, Time Magazine included her in the “TIME100 Climate” list of the world’s most influential climate leaders. She has also been recognized by Crain’s New York Business as a Notable Leader in Sustainability (2023 and 2024) and received the Global Sustainability Award from the One To World Fulbright Scholars community. Additional distinctions include the American Banker Most Powerful Women Standout Award and Business Insider’s “100 People Transforming Business.”

Prior to joining Bank of America, Karen held senior leadership positions at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Merrill Lynch. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tokyo.
