Chairman & CEO of Starwood Capital Group, the private alternative investment firm he formed in 1991 focused on real assets globally. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Starwood Property Trust (NYSE: STWD). For the past 35 years, he has structured investments with an asset value of over $200 billion. The Firm currently manages in excess of $125 billion of assets on behalf of its high net worth and institutional partners. Starwood Capital also manages Starwood Property Trust (NYSE: STWD), the largest commercial mortgage real estate investment trust in the US, which has successfully deployed over $112 billion of capital since inception and manages a portfolio of over $30 billion across debt and equity investments. Alongside Starwood Property Trust, Starwood Capital manages over $5 billion in several private debt funds investing across the globe. From 1995-2005, he was Chairman & CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, a company he founded in 1995. In 2008, he founded SH Hotels & Resorts, his new hotel management company, which was renamed Starwood Hotels & Resorts in March 2025. Starwood Hotels & Resorts is the parent company of 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels & Resorts, and Treehouse Hotels brands. He serves on the Boards of The Estée Lauder Companies, the Real Estate Roundtable and The Robin Hood Foundation. He received his BA from Brown University & MBA from HBS.
