Katherine Sacks

Katherine Sacks is an associate director in health economics on the research team at the Milken Institute. Her research concerns health equity, health disparities, and the social determinants of health, focusing particularly on adverse maternal birth outcomes, as well as the effects of the social safety net on measures of population health. She also serves as a consultant on a NIDA-funded R01 grant, looking at social safety net programs as interventions to reduce opioid-related harms in reproductive-age women. Prior to joining the Milken Institute, Dr. Sacks taught in the department of public policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and in the department of political science and public policy at North Dakota State University. Sacks holds a PhD and an MA in public policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA from Barnard College.
