Adalberto Palma Gómez is an accomplished expert in strategy, corporate governance, sustainability, behavioral economics, and public policy. Currently, he serves as an independent consultant with notable organizations such as iDirectores, BEWorks Mexico, and Futerra Mexico, among other prominent global entities in these fields.

Palma Gómez has held significant positions in both the public and private sectors. He served as senior advisor to the Chief of Staff of the President of Mexico (2020–2021) and as Chairman of Mexico’s Banking and Securities Commission (2019– 2020). From 2015 to 2019, he was the CEO of the Aspen Institute Mexico and concurrently chaired the Board of Directors of the Unión de Instituciones Financieras Mexicanas, A.C. (2018–2019). Earlier in his career, he founded Aperture S.C. in 2004 and Proxy, Gobernanza Corporativa, S.C., in 2006, through which he has provided governance advisory services to corporations, financial institutions, non-profits, and family-run enterprises across Latin America, including Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Nicaragua, Panama, and Ecuador.

From 1999 to 2003, Palma Gómez served as an Independent Board Member of Mexico’s deposit insurance organization (IPAB), a position to which he was nominated by the President of Mexico and confirmed by the Senate. During this tenure, he acted as Chairman of the Board of Banca Serfin, then the fourth-largest financial institution in Mexico, during its receivership. His private-sector leadership includes serving as President and CEO of Bankers Trust in Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia (1994–1998) and as Managing Director of Citibank Mexico (1984–1994).

Palma Gómez’s career reflects a commitment to advancing corporate governance and public policy in Latin America.

Married for 43 years, he is the proud father of two sons and grandfather of two grandchildren.
