Marcelo Ebrard is a Mexican public official with 40+ years of experience. He studied International Relations at El Colegio de México and public administration at France’s ENA. Among his many roles, he served as Mexico City's Security Secretary (2002–2004), where he modernized policing with neighborhood patrols and technology. As Mayor of Mexico City (2006–2012), he expanded the Metrobús system, launched the Ecobici bike-share, recovered public spaces, and strengthened security with the C5 system.
As Foreign Secretary (2018–2023), he coordinated Mexico’s access to COVID-19 vaccines—through bilateral agreements and COVAX—organized medical-supply airlifts and hospital support, strengthened consular protection, deepened cooperation with the United States and Canada on migration, security, and resilient supply chains, and broadened Mexico’s partnerships across Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Since October 2024 he has served as Economy Secretary, leading dialogue with U.S. counterparts to ensure continuity of the friendship and trade relationship; expanding the “Hecho en México” seal, delivering record Q1-2025 FDI, advancing 1,600+ investment projects, and launching nationwide development hubs.
