Ted Deutch, a lifelong Jewish and pro‑Israel activist, has served as Chief Executive Officer of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) since October 2022. He leads AJC’s global efforts to combat antisemitism, strengthen Jewish security, and advance strong U.S.–Israel relations, while expanding the organization’s engagement with governments, businesses, and Jewish communities worldwide.
Previously, Ted spent more than 12 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was a leading voice on antisemitism and U.S.–Israel relations. He was a founding member of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, chair of the House Ethics Committee, and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including as chair of its Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism Subcommittee. Earlier, he served in the Florida State Senate and passed the nation’s first law preventing public pension funds from supporting Iran’s illicit activities.
Ted and his wife, Jill, live in Boca Raton, Florida, and have three adult children.
