Mr. Ellis is a fixed income and sovereign debt specialist with deep experience across emerging markets, spanning trading, investment banking, debt restructuring, and liability management in both the public and private sectors. He began his career as a fixed income and FX trader at the Central Bank of Venezuela and was later part of the team that renegotiated Venezuela's external debt under the Brady Plan. He went on to serve as Director of Financial Analysis and, in 1995, Director of Public Credit at Venezuela's Ministry of Finance, leading the Republic's domestic and international financing strategy. He also sat on the boards of EDELCA, Venezuela's largest public utility, and Banco República. Since 1997, he has held senior roles at Citibank (project finance, syndications, securitizations), Salomon Smith Barney (Latin American Investment Banking), and Deutsche Bank (Latin American Debt Capital Markets), and he co-founded FalconView Securities, a licensed US and offshore broker-dealer. He holds a JD from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, a BBA from Bellevue University, and completed advanced studies in mathematics and probability at Columbia University.
