Kelsey Plum, Los Angeles Sparks guard, is a game-changing athlete and leader who has left an indelible mark on women’s basketball on and off the court. A Southern California native, Plum first excelled in volleyball before transitioning to basketball in high school, where she became a McDonald’s All-American. At the University of Washington, she completed four years as a starter and graduated as the NCAA Division I women’s basketball all-time scoring leader, earning multiple Player of the Year honors.
In 2017, she was drafted No. 1 overall by the San Antonio Stars, who later became the Las Vegas Aces. Plum quickly made her presence felt, earning WNBA All-Rookie Team honors in 2017. After overcoming a torn Achilles in 2020, she was named the 2021 WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year and helped lead the Aces to their first championship in 2022, earning All-WNBA First Team and All-Star Game MVP. She followed that by helping the Aces win another championship in 2023, while also winning the All-Star Skills Challenge. On the international stage, Plum helped Team USA win gold in the inaugural women’s 3x3 basketball event at the 2020 Olympics, along with two FIBA World Cup gold medals (2018, 2022) and another Olympic gold medal in 2024.
Off the court, Plum has emerged as an advocate for women’s sports and mental health through the Kelsey Plum Foundation, expanding access to athletics and resources for underserved youth. She also created an annual camp for NCAA athletes and serves as Vice President of the WNBPA. Plum sets the standard as both a competitor and an inspirational change maker.
