Jeff Berman began his career as a public defender representing children facing life imprisonment before he moved on to serve as Chief Counsel to US Senator Charles Schumer and Staff Director of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight & The Courts. In the private sector, Jeff has held senior leadership roles at several of the most consequential inflection points in the evolution of digital media. As President of MySpace during its peak influence, he led policy, communications, marketing, content, and sales; he oversaw digital media for the National Football League; and he served as President of Whalerock Industries, where his team achieved the distinction of being the first and only ever to simultaneously chart seven of the top 10 applications in the Apple App Store. Most recently, Jeff co-founded Magnet Companies – where he helped launch TOGETHXR (the women's sports and culture brand) and led the Series A investment in Dear Media – before becoming CEO of WaitWhat and co-host (with Reid Hoffman) of Masters of Scale. Jeff has served on the boards of several companies including Buddy Media (acquired by Salesforce), Brud (acquired by Dapper Labs), and Anine Bing. In 2017, Jeff helped found Protect Democracy, a non-partisan NGO dedicated to preserving the structural integrity of American democratic institutions. He continues to serve on its board of directors. Jeff holds a J.D. from Yale Law School.
