David Clunie is a general partner, Head of Community Impact, and President of the Edward Jones Foundation. He leads the firm's community initiatives focusing on improving financial futures, philanthropy, volunteerism and engagement, and environmental stewardship. He is a member of the External Affairs Leadership Team. David previously served as Executive Director of the Black Economic Alliance—a coalition of Black business leaders and aligned allies driving economic progress and prosperity in the Black community. Before BEA, David was a managing director at JPMorgan Chase in Corporate Responsibility. Prior to that, David was appointed by President Barack Obama as the Executive Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, previously as Deputy Associate White House Counsel, and as Deputy Director of Voter Protection for Iowa on President Obama's 2008 Campaign. David started his career as a litigation associate at the law firm Paul, Weiss in NY, where he worked on commercial litigation and partnered with public interest organizations on pro bono matters involving voting rights, police-community relations, prisoners’ rights, affirmative action, and disability rights. David serves on the National Urban League Board of Trustees, the Financial Health Network's Frontiers Advisory Board, and the Black Economic Alliance Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the Howard University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the law review, and he is an honors graduate of the State University of New York at Albany.
