Named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, Noa Argamani has become one of the most recognized faces of the October 7 Hamas attacks and the ongoing hostage crisis. Her abduction from the Nova music festival, alongside her boyfriend Avinatan Or, was captured on video and quickly went viral. In the clip, she is seen pleading as she’s forcibly separated from Avinatan and taken away on a motorcycle—an image that came to symbolize the horrors of that day. Noa was held in Gaza for 245 days. She was moved between apartments, lived in fear, and was often forced to serve as a domestic laborer. During captivity, she learned Arabic and, during a brief truce in November 2023, advocated for other hostages’ release. In January, she appeared in a Hamas video—later revealed to have been recorded under coercion—alongside fellow hostages Yossi Sharabi and Itay Svirsky, who were later killed. She was rescued on June 8, 2024, in a daring Israeli operation. The mission coincided with her father’s birthday and came just weeks before her mother passed away, having fulfilled her final wish to see her daughter again. Today, Noa continues to speak out for the 59 hostages still in Gaza—including Avinatan. Her story is one of unimaginable trauma, survival, and advocacy. From captivity to international recognition, Noa’s voice now carries a message of urgency and hope: their return is the only path to true healing.
