Eugene Ludwig

27th Comptroller of the Currency; Founder and CEO, Ludwig Advisors

The Honorable Eugene A. Ludwig is a business and civic leader and expert on banking, regulation, risk management and fiscal policy. He is CEO and founder of Ludwig Advisors, which counsels bank executives on their most significant regulatory challenges, managing partner of Canapi Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in early to growth-stage fintech companies, founder and chairman of the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the economic well-being of middle- and lower-income Americans, and cofounder of the Carol and Gene Ludwig Family Foundation, which provides grants to organizations accelerating medical and scientific discovery in neurodegenerative diseases and enabling access to educational and economic opportunity. Mr. Ludwig served as Comptroller of the Currency from 1993 to 1998, where he spearheaded efforts to stop discrimination in the banking system, expanded opportunities for Americans, and created a balanced regulatory environment allowing the banking industry to serve its customers more efficiently. In addition, Mr. Ludwig is also the founder, former CEO and chairman of Promontory Financial Group, the industry leader in regulatory compliance and risk management consulting, and Promontory Interfinancial Network (now IntraFi Network), an early fintech company with a network of approximately 3,000 bank members. Under his leadership, the Promontory family of companies became synonymous with excellence in compliance, risk management, and financial services innovation. He graduated magna cum laude from Haverford College, holds a Master of Arts degree from Oxford University, and a Juris Doctor from Yale University.
