Ashbel C. Williams is Vice Chair, J.P. Morgan Asset Management. With assets under management of $2.7 trillion, the firm is a global leader in investment management. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Asset Management in 2022, Williams was Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Florida State Board of Administration (SBA), with assets of over $250 billion. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Fir Tree Partners and President and CEO of Schroder Capital Management. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles in the executive and legislative branches of Florida state government, including initial leadership of the SBA from 1991-96. Williams is a trustee of the Florida State University Foundation and the National Institute for Public Finance. He serves on the investment committees of the IEEE and the Episcopal Diocese of Florida. He also serves on the board of the Economic Club of Florida, is a Hull Fellow of the Pacific Pension and Investment Institute, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received BS and MBA degrees from the Florida State University (FSU) and lives in Tallahassee, FL with his wife; they have three grown daughters.
