Ranu Jung, PhD is Associate Vice Chancellor, the Founding Executive Director of the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R), Endowed Chair, and Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Arkansas. A visionary builder, she is laying the foundation for I3R's future by shaping its vision and mission, and industry and community partnerships. A champion for innovation and entrepreneurship, she is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Academy of Inventors, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and the Biomedical Engineering Society. Holder of 18 U.S. patents, she has chaired or served on committees for the NIH, National Advisory Council for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, NSF, European Research Commission, and other international research foundations.

Professor Jung’s research is at the cutting edge between engineering and neuroscience, developing devices that lead to scientific advances with clear pathways to clinical application and was featured in 2019 by the NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering as an exceptional woman grantee.

Jung received her Doctoral and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, bachelor's with Distinction, in Electronics & Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India, and an Honorary Doctorate from Aalborg University, Denmark. A foremost leader in her field, Jung is driven by purpose to make a positive societal impact.
