Elizabeth Comen, MD, is an internationally recognized breast cancer oncologist, women’s health specialist, and bestselling author. She is the Julia Arnold Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is the Co-Director of Women’s Health for the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative.
An award-winning clinician and researcher, her research focuses on the relationship of the immune system to cancer growth and metastasis. A passionate advocate for advancing women’s health and wellness, she is the author of All in Her Head, which explores the historical and systemic inequities that continue to shape women’s healthcare today. She is also a frequent contributor to national and international media, where she raises awareness about breast cancer and broader issues in women’s health. Her advocacy extends to collaborations with initiatives such as the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research and the Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM) Collaborative.
Dr. Comen earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her internship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by fellowships in medical oncology and advanced breast medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Board-certified in medical oncology, she is a recipient of the Department of Defense Breakthrough Award for her pioneering research on tumor-infiltrating leukocytes in breast cancer.
