Like most global metropolitan cities, Tokyo was not immune to the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic. Under the enlightened leadership of Governor Yuriko Koike, the city has implemented an efficient crisis management system and witnessed strong rebounds in economic and social activity, even moving ahead with plans to host the Olympic Games in the summer of 2021. Now, Tokyo is capitalizing on the momentum created by its COVID-19 management efforts to accelerate Japan's digital capabilities for future growth.
