Josh Barro writes "Very Serious," a Substack newsletter about politics and the economy. He also hosts the "Very Serious" podcast and is co-host of "Serious Trouble," a weekly legal affairs podcast. These independent media ventures, launched in 2022, are entirely supported by readers and listeners, with over ten thousand paid subscriptions. Prior to going independent, Josh covered politics, business and law at media outlets including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Business Insider, Bloomberg and KCRW. Before entering journalism, Josh was a commercial real estate banker at Wells Fargo. He holds a bachelors degree in psychology from Harvard College.
