The Honorable Eugene A. Ludwig, the 27th Comptroller of the Currency, is a business and civic leader and expert on banking, regulation, risk management, and fiscal policy. He is CEO & founder of Ludwig Advisors and a managing partner of Canapi Ventures. He founded the Promontory family of companies, which have advised financial institutions and created fintech products for banks. Mr. Ludwig is founder and Chairman of the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity (LISEP), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the economic well-being of middle- and lower-income Americans. He cofounded the Carol and Gene Ludwig Family Foundation, which provides grants to organizations that accelerate medical and scientific discovery in neurodegenerative diseases and enable access to educational and economic opportunity for young people. Mr. Ludwig served as Comptroller of the Currency from 1993 to 1998. He spearheaded efforts to stop discrimination in the banking system, expanded opportunities for Americans, and created a balanced regulatory environment that allowed the banking industry to serve its customers more efficiently. He graduated magna cum laude from Haverford College and earned a Master of Arts from Oxford and a J.D. from Yale.
