Michael Klowden is Executive Vice Chairman of the Milken Institute and was CEO from 2001 through 2022. During his tenure, the Institute's annual Global Conference became one of the world's premier business, finance and policy events. Under his leadership, the Institute dramatically enhanced its worldwide outreach, significantly increased its convening capacity and initiated its specialized research and policy centers. The Institute also opened additional offices in Washington, D.C., New York, Miami, Singapore, London and Abu Dhabi. Previously, Klowden was president of Jefferies Group Inc.; senior partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; and partner at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp. He has served on numerous for-profit and charitable boards. Klowden holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago, where he is a trustee, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
