In February 2026, leaders from across science, medicine, policy, technology, finance, and philanthropy gathered in Washington, DC, to discuss how the cancer model of research and innovation can evolve for the next era. Cohosted by the Milken Institute and the Richard Nixon Foundation, the convening brought together leaders whose work spans the cancer ecosystem and provided an opportunity to examine the breakthroughs now within reach, as well as the steps needed to fully realize the promise of this next phase of cancer innovation.
The Cancer 2035: A Roadmap for the Future report highlights seven priorities that emerged from discussions on federal leadership, data and AI infrastructure, clinical trial modernization, next-generation therapies, prevention and early detection, equitable access to innovation, and trust-building across the ecosystem.
