African sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) have expanded rapidly and now manage more than $100B in assets that are increasingly being deployed in innovative ways to achieve both financial returns and drive strategic investments in economic development. SWFs are positioning themselves as a partner of choice for private investors, development finance institutions, and other foreign sovereign funds to de-risk investments across a range of critical sectors. This panel will bring together leaders of SWFs and investors to explore how these institutions are reshaping investment and development strategies on the continent, showcase innovative examples of how they are deploying their capital, and identify partnerships and structures that can further de-risk and scale investment into bankable projects that create opportunities for investment.
