Global Conference 2026

Author Talk: Jonathan Capehart, "Yet Here I Am: Lessons from a Black Man's Search for Home"

-

One of the most recognizable political analysts and reporters of our time, Jonathan Capehart is a steady, dependable voice to help people make sense of the world. Despite his assured role helping to inform a population, he didn’t always feel assured of his own personal identity. In his moving memoir, Yet Here I Am, Capehart traces his life and pursuit to finding his voiceas a gay Black man, as a writer, and as one of American journalism's most recognized voices. What does it take to claim your own story? Capehart takes us with him on his route to self-exploration and discovery. In an honest and deeply personal conversation with LZ Granderson, Jonathan Capehart discusses identity, resilience, and the ongoing work of finding—and keeping—your place in the world.

As with all Global Conference public sessions, registration is not required to attend an Author Talk, but seating is limited. Seats will be open to the first 100 attendees. We recommend Conference attendees add any Author Talks of interest to your agenda. If you cannot attend the Author Talk or are solely interested in the book signing portion, we encourage you to come to the Global Conference on-site bookstore managed by Barnes & Noble at the end of the scheduled hour for a 30-minute signing.

Books featured in the Author Talks and Book Signings are available for purchase at the on-site bookstore.
