Health Technology Innovators
CEO Insights Series

The Milken Institute’s response to the opioid crisis leverages our convening platforms and network of stakeholders. One approach involves identifying resources to accelerate health technology innovations that address opioid addiction and mental health. In March 2019, we worked with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to host the Investment and Innovation Accelerator forum. The event, designed to increase stakeholder awareness, included a sample of small business interventions working to reach communities combating the crisis—whether from a prevention, diversion, treatment, or recovery perspective.

These companies, drawn from the Small Business Innovation Research program of NIDA, presented their innovative technologies and scalable community solutions to stakeholders at the event. The Institute has followed these small businesses’ progress since March 2019. In recent months, some have been able to apply their technologies to challenges that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meet the Health Technology Innovators
Below you’ll find interviews with CEOs who attended the Accelerator. The conversations reveal their unique intervention technologies and how they’ve pivoted to respond to the pandemic. Innovation will continue to ignite solutions, and collaboration from stakeholders across sectors will identify the right interventions to bring to communities.
