Shelley Sylva
Shelley Sylva is head of corporate citizenship for TD Bank US, leading efforts to deliver financially inclusive and sustainable products and services while also providing philanthropic investments and community programs that elevate and align with TD's business outcomes, purpose, and brand promise. She drives strategy and execution for the social impact team, overseeing charitable giving, employee engagement, and volunteerism. Sylva is also responsible for managing risk and supporting efforts to protect, adapt, and grow business opportunities within TD's Responsible Banking platform, which she was instrumental in establishing. Having played a key role in developing TD’s $20 billion Community Impact Plan, Sylva draws on her legal, regulatory, and community expertise as a bar-admitted attorney to guide its implementation.
Most recently, Sylva served as head of Metro Business Development in Pennsylvania and New Jersey at TD. In that role, she expanded the bank’s community engagement strategy across Greater Philadelphia, partnered with key stakeholders to refine the bank's Community Reinvestment Act rating, and generated new business opportunities while building TD's brand in the region.
Before joining TD, Sylva served as assistant executive director of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, the fourth-largest housing authority in the US, where she supervised the senior management team and led significant initiatives, including the redevelopment of public housing high-rises into livable communities for the underserved populations.
Outside of work, Sylva volunteers on several boards of directors, including her alma mater, The Philadelphia High School for Girls; Northeast Treatment Center; Girl Scouts of Central and Southern NJ; and the Mann Music Center. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Sylva graduated from Temple’s Beasley School of Law and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. She is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2021 Women of Distinction, the National Diversity Council's 2023 Woman of the Year, and the 2024 Philadelphia Titan 100.
