Martha Cummings is a FinTech council member at the Milken Institute. She is an innovative global leader, independent director, advisor, and executive coach with a unique mix of expertise in key business performance drivers. She makes an impactful, positive difference working with boards and senior leaders on strategy, transformation, global expansion, regulatory engagement, and risk management. Cummings has held critical senior roles at global banks and provided regulatory oversight of some of the largest financial institutions. As a strategic leader adept at bridging linguistic, cultural, and generational differences, Cummings is a soughtafter public speaker on banking, risk, FinTech, and trends and opportunities, including AI-powered solutions, tokenization, and digital assets.

Cummings is an independent director on the board of Marqeta Inc., a Nasdaqlisted leader in digital payments, where she chairs the Nomination and Governance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. She is also a senior advisor and executive coach with Boston Consulting Group. Cummings provides independent advisory to FinTech companies at various stages, including Cardamon, an AI-powered regulatory change solution, and recently provided initial public offering readiness advisory for a Brazilian challenger bank. She has served on the advisory boards of Quantexa Ltd and Eigen Technologies, providing assistance with strategy, growth, talent, marketing, and expansion of product use cases.

Cummings’s extensive financial services experience includes senior roles at the Federal Reserve, where she provided regulatory oversight of several global systemically important financial institutions. She represented the US on the Basel Committee Supervision Implementation Group and engaged in Federal Reserve initiatives on FinTech, governance, risk identification and prioritization, and culture and ethics in banking. Cummings has also held senior roles in banking and risk management at Wells Fargo, Santander, and Bankers Trust.

Cummings has served as an Executive Leadership Fellow for the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota, where she mentored students and guest lecturing. She has also served on the advisory board of and as a mentor with the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs at the College of Charleston.
