Candace Kendall
Candace Kendall is an associate director within the Strategic Philanthropy pillar at the Milken Institute, where she builds and manages the systems that move grants and programs from strategy to impact while aligning philanthropic investments with partner goals.
Kendall began her career as a medicolegal death investigator and has since spent more than a decade working across local, state, and federal governments, as well as the nonprofit sector. At the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, she supported economic development grants and trained funding recipients nationwide. She has also overseen the distribution of federal housing funds to nonprofits throughout Indiana, designed injury prevention and public health initiatives, advised local elected officials across the state on their implementation, and built the grants and corporate partnerships function at a national health nonprofit in Maryland.
Kendall’s early work focused on helping communities address the conditions that shape public health before crises occur. She holds a bachelor of science in criminology from Indiana State University and is pursuing a master of public administration at Northeastern University, with a concentration in public policy strategy and global program implementation. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring trails and parks throughout Virginia and volunteering in her community.
