Nazanin Boniadi is an Iranian-born, SAG and AACTA Award-nominated actress, producer and human rights advocate. Boniadi is an Amnesty International UK Ambassador and has partnered with the US arm of the non-profit since 2008 to campaign for the rights of disenfranchised populations, with a focus on the unjust conviction and treatment of Iranian youth, women, and prisoners of conscience.
In 2018, she was selected for membership in the leading U.S. foreign relations and national security think tank the Council on Foreign Relations. She has served on the board of directors of the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran since 2023. Boniadi’s advocacy work has taken her to the British, German, Canadian and Australian Parliaments; and Capitol Hill. In November 2022, she testified at a UN Security Council Arria Formula meeting, calling for a UN Human Rights Council fact finding mission on the brutalities of the Islamic Republic. She has also spoken at esteemed international institutions and fora such the Oxford Union, Munich Security Conference, and the World Economic Forum.
Boniadi is the recipient of the 2020 Freedom House Raising Awareness Award, the 2022 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and the 2023 Sydney Peace Prize. Notable television credits include the first season of Amazon's "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," "Homeland," "How I Met Your Mother," and "Counterpart." Among her film credits, Boniadi won acclaim as Zahra Kashani in "Hotel Mumbai," and will topline the upcoming adoption dramedy "A Mosquito in the Ear" with Jake Lacy.
