Marcelo Furtado

Sustainability Head, Itaúsa

Marcelo Furtado is the Executive Director of Itaúsa Institute and Head of Sustainability at Itaúsa. A chemical engineer with a master’s degree in Renewable Energy, he has over three decades of experience working in civil society organizations and socio-environmental philanthropy. He served as Executive Director of Greenpeace Brazil and led Instituto Arapyaú and the Alana Foundation. He sits on the boards of Conectas Human Rights and the Sovereignty and Climate Center, and a member of the sustainability committees of Dexco and Marfrig. He is co-founder of the Brazil Climate, Forest and Agriculture Coalition, a partner at BlockC, and a senior advisor for the international organization NatureFinance.
