Lieven Cooreman is a seasoned senior executive with over 30 years of international leadership experience across the Metals & Mining, Agribusiness, Commodities, and Logistics industries. With more than two decades as CEO, he has built a reputation for leading large-scale business transformations, M&As, turnarounds, and crisis management initiatives across the Americas and Europe.
Currently serving as CEO of Atlas Agro Brazil (joining in September 2025), Lieven brings deep expertise in driving strategic growth and operational excellence within complex industrial environments. His career highlights include leading EuroChem Brazil’s US$3.8 billion fertilizer business through the integration of four companies, overseeing 24 blending operations and 4,000+ employees. He successfully executed over US$1.3 billion in acquisitions, doubling sales in just three years, and implemented major safety and cultural transformations across multiple sites.
Lieven has held key executive roles including CEO of VLI, Head of EuroChem South America, CEO of Fertilizantes Tocantins and Heringer, Deputy CEO of EuroChem International, CEO of Porto Sudeste and Morro do Ipê (Trafigura/Mubadala), CEO of Galvani, SVP of Yara Brasil, and Executive Director at Anglo Minas-Rio. Earlier in his career, he served as CEO of Sibelco South America and Managing Director of Umicore South America.
He holds an MSc in Metallurgical Engineering and Nuclear Physics from KU Leuven and completed postgraduate studies in Solid-State Physics at UBA (Bariloche). Lieven also earned governance and board member certification from IBGC. In addition to his executive career, he is a mentor with Endeavor and an active angel investor through BR Angels.
