John Aylward

John Aylward is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Sona Asset Management, where he leads the firm’s global investment activities. He founded Sona in 2016 and has since grown it into a leading global alternative asset manager with ten partners, over 156 employees and more than $16 billion in assets under management, with offices in London, New York, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi. Alongside its consistent record of delivering strong returns for Limited Partners, Sona is widely regarded for its disciplined investment philosophy and culture of collaboration.

Prior to founding Sona, John joined Highbridge Capital Management in 2014 to run its European Credit business. From 2010 to 2014, he headed the European Corporate Credit strategy at Claren Road Asset Management. He began his career at Deutsche Bank in 2002, where he gained broad experience across credit markets before being appointed Head of High Yield Trading.

John holds an LLB in Law from Trinity College Dublin.
