Doug Shulman is Chairman and CEO of OneMain Financial, where he leads the nation’s largest nonprime lender focused on improving the financial well-being of millions of hardworking Americans by providing responsible lending products. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of CVS Health and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He joined OneMain in 2018 from BNY Mellon, where he served as Senior Executive Vice President, Global Head of Client Service Delivery and was a member of the Executive Committee. Prior to BNY Mellon, Doug was a Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company. From 2008 to 2012, he served as the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he directed a transformation of the agency’s technology, drove customer service metrics to historic levels and led important breakthroughs in addressing international tax evasion.
Previously, Doug was Vice Chairman and, before that, President of Markets, Services and Information at FINRA and its predecessor company, NASD, when it owned the Nasdaq Stock Market and the American Stock Exchange. Earlier in his career, Doug was an entrepreneur, a vice president at a private investment firm and part of the founding team that launched Teach for America.
He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a JD, magna cum laude. He also holds an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and a BA degree from Williams College.
