Global Chief Investment Officer, Hines

David Steinbach is the Global Chief Investment Officer and a Managing Partner at Hines, where he oversees the firm’s global investment strategy and capital allocation across 30 countries and all product types. He serves on the firm’s Management, Executive, and Investment Committees, helping guide long‑term strategy and performance. Since joining Hines in 1999, David has been instrumental in the firm’s evolution into a leading global investment manager. He led the development and expansion of Hines’ flagship discretionary fund platform, which now exceeds $48.5 billion in AUM, and helped broaden the firm’s institutional and private wealth investor base. Under his leadership, Hines has navigated multiple real estate cycles and grown from $10 billion to more than $91.8 billion in AUM (as of June 30, 2025), strengthening its position as one of the most trusted names in private real estate.

David oversees investment teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia‑Pacific, ensuring disciplined execution, innovation, and meaningful impact for the firm’s global clients. A frequent speaker and media contributor, David has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg, and at leading industry conferences to discuss investing, capital markets, and sustainable urban development. Beyond Hines, he serves on the Executive Board of Fast Company.

He and his wife, Rebecca, have endowed two scholarships for first‑generation college students pursuing business or public health degrees and actively support initiatives focused on foster care and adoption.
