He previously served for more than a decade as president of the Ford Foundation, where he oversaw a $16 billion endowment and expanded support for artists and filmmakers, including establishing the JustFilms documentary fund. Earlier, he held leadership roles at the Rockefeller Foundation and the Abyssinian Development Corporation, as well as positions in international law and finance.
