André Esteves

Chairman and Senior Partner, BTG Pactual

André Esteves is the Chairman, Senior Partner, and controlling shareholder of BTG Pactual, the largest investment bank in Latin America. Under his leadership, the bank has achieved significant milestones, including a market capitalization of approximately US$45 billion and assets and wealth under management summing approximately US$500 billion as of December 2025. Esteves joined Pactual in 1989 and became a partner in 1993. He began his career in the bank’s technology department, later leading the Fixed Income division. In 2006, Pactual was sold to UBS, where Esteves was appointed CEO and Chairman of UBS Pactual. In 2007, he also served as Global Head of Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities at UBS. In 2008, he left UBS and founded BTG Investments, which in 2009 repurchased Pactual from UBS, forming and rebranding it as BTG Pactual. As a philanthropist, Esteves serves on the boards of Conservation International, Inteli, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the co-founder and sponsor of Inteli – a leading nonprofit university in Brazil. Additionally, he contributes to numerous initiatives aimed at improving education, the environment, and healthcare. In recognition of his philanthropic efforts, Harvard Business School renovated the former Baker Hall on the Harvard University campus in 2015, renaming it Esteves Hall in his honor.
