Afsane Jetha

Afsane Jetha has 24 years of experience in investing, advising and creating value for companies across developed and emerging markets. Afsane founded Alta Semper in 2015, alongside Richard Parsons and members of the Esteé Lauder family. Alta Semper’s mission is to “Democratize access to generational health and well-being across growth markets”. Today it is the leading firm investing in the healthcare, consumer wellness and health-tech space in Africa and MENA, posting top decile returns for the African continent.

Under Afsane Jetha’s leadership as CEO and Managing Partner, Alta Semper has strategically deployed over USD 250 million into high-impact healthcare and consumer sectors across the UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and Kenya. A landmark success includes the 2017 investment in Macro Pharmaceuticals, which she successfully exited via a 2022 listing on the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX). Alta Semper has also invested in MYDAWA, Africa’s largest online pharmacy, Allmed, a global leader in renal care and dialysis solutions and most recently, a UAE based leading sports nutrition and dietary supplements company with manufacturing presence in Egypt, strengthening health security across the Global South.

Before co-founding Alta Semper, Afsane invested over US$2bn across Africa, the US and Europe, which has included serving on the boards of some of Europe’s larger healthcare groups. Earlier in her career she held various roles at Permira, Wasserstein, and Merrill Lynch. Afsane holds a BSc from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
