David K. Lam

Dr. David K. Lam is Chairman and CEO of Multibeam Corporation, a premier Silicon Valley lithography company. Under his leadership, Multibeam has accelerated R&D and launched a first-of-a-kind maskless Multicolumn E-Beam Lithography (MEBL) system built for mass production. The reticle-free technology enables rapid prototyping and advanced chip packaging, opening critical new processing possibilities in AI infrastructure expansion, quantum computing, and compound semiconductors. Notably, Multibeam is currently partnering with the U.S. Department of Commerce on a $140 million, five-year project, leading a consortium to develop advanced packaging solutions that improve chip-to-chip bandwidth and reduce energy consumption in AI data centers. A leading executive and pioneer in the global semiconductor equipment industry, Dr. Lam is best known for founding Lam Research Corporation in 1980.

His breakthrough innovations in plasma etch technology catalyzed the mobile communications revolution and laid the foundation for modern AI. In 1984, he took the company public on NASDAQ, becoming the first Asian American executive to achieve this distinction.

A "Mentor Capitalist" to tech startups, his accolades include the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame (2013), the Museum of Chinese in America Legacy Award (2022), appointment by President George H.W. Bush to the U.S. Minority Business Development Commission, and President Bill Clinton’s Presidential Business Mission to China. He holds MS/PhD engineering degrees from MIT and a BASc from the University of Toronto.
