FAQs
The Milken Institute Future of Aging is an initiative that advances healthy longevity and financial security for all through research, convenings, multisector partnerships, and the elevation of high-impact policies and practices. It operates under Milken Institute Health and addresses the economic, social, and health-care challenges of a rapidly aging global population.
The initiative works across four practice areas: Brain Health, which focuses on dementia care and timely diagnosis; Financial Longevity, which addresses financial well-being and meaningful work lives; Healthspan, which develops solutions to extend the period of life spent in good health; and Home and Community, which promotes tech-enabled care, housing options, and intergenerational connection.
The Alliance to Improve Dementia Care is a Milken Institute program that works to increase timely detection and diagnosis of dementia, improve access to treatment and coordinated care, and address health equity for people living with dementia and their caregivers. It is guided by a Steering Committee of leaders from a wide range of organizations.
Lifespan refers to the total length of a person's life, while healthspan refers to the portion of that life spent in good health and free from serious illness or disability. The Milken Institute Future of Aging focuses on closing the gap between the two, ensuring that longer lives are also healthier ones.
Organizations can engage through the Leadership Council, a forum for leaders seeking to drive change and prepare institutions for an aging population, or through the Academic and Policy Council, which convenes experts to advance policies that improve the lives of older adults. Interested parties can contact Milken Institute Health directly for partnership opportunities.
