My name is Farahnaz Walizada. I am currently studying at Arizona State University and will start my Master’s Degree in Global Management Affairs in May 2022. I graduated in 2020 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Minors in Development Study and Finance at the Asian University for Women Chittagong Bangladesh. As part of my Finance Minor, I took one semester at Harvard Business School online (HBS). I also have a two-year college diploma in Accounting. I came to the United States through the evacuation process and withdrawal of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan in August of 2021. Following the evacuation, I stayed in a military camp in Wisconsin for about three and half months where I taught refugee children and held workshops for their families about hygiene, women’s rights, and child labor. Prior work experience includes acting as an officer in the monitoring and evaluation department in one of the projects of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau (INL) implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock project of Community-Based Agriculture and Development. The project was about the development and empowerment of female farmers. I also completed two two-month internships - one was a development project with the Nepal Jesuit Social Institute in Katmandu, Nepal and the other was in the Finance Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
