Bill Tai has backed > 20 early-stage startups that have grown to become publicly listed, including Zoom Video where he was the first seed backer to commit. He is the founding Chairman of Treasure Data (acq. by SOFTBANK), IP Infusion (Tokyo Stock Exchange:4813), and HUT8 Mining (NASDAQ: HUT). He is among the first investors in Canva, Color Genomics, Class.com, Dapper Labs, and Zoom Video. He has been active in the Bitcoin ecosystem since 2010. Originally trained as a computer chip designer, he joined the CEO of Fairchild Semiconductor at the startup of LSI Logic in the early days of Silicon Valley. He later started the semiconductor practice at Alex Brown & Sons, handling the IPO’s of companies such as Atmel, Cirrus Logic, and Zilog. He holds a BSEE with honors from University of Illinois and an MBA from Harvard.
