Vice-Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)

Jingdong Hua is vice chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in Montreal, a position he has held since October 2022. He previously served as vice president and treasurer of the World Bank in Washington, DC, where he also acted as administrator of the World Bank Group Pension Fund and was a member of its finance committee. Prior to that, Hua was vice president and treasurer of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and earlier served as deputy treasurer at the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines. His international career also includes roles with the United Nations Development Programme in New York and the African Development Bank in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Hua began his professional journey as a chemical engineer in 1983 in Beijing, China. He has since become a global leader in international finance and capital market development in emerging and developing economies. While at the IFC and the World Bank, Hua partnered with the Milken Institute to launch the IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Program and the World Bank-Milken Institute Public Financial Management Program, both aimed at training future capital market leaders in in developing economies.

In addition to his role at the ISSB, Hua serves on the Supervisory Board of TCX, a Dutch Alternative Investment Fund that provides local currency solutions to emerging and frontier markets. He is also a board member of the United Nations Sanitation and Hygiene Fund and serves on the international advisory board of Zhejiang University International Business School.
