Hiro Mizuno

Hiro Mizuno is a senior advisor within the International pillar at the Milken Institute and a globally recognized financial executive and advocate for sustainable investment. As the founder and CEO of Good Steward Partners LLC, Mizuno champions responsible financial practices and long-term value creation. He currently serves as special advisor to the CEO of MSCI Inc., an independent board member of LiveWire Group Inc., and a member of the mission committee at Danone.

Previously, Mizuno served as special envoy of the United Nations secretary-general on innovative finance and
sustainable investment. As executive managing director and chief investment officer of Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund, he managed the world’s largest pension fund, with $1.5 trillion in assets, where he redefined global investment strategies by embedding environmental, social, and governance principles. His tenure as a nonexecutive board member of Tesla further highlighted his commitment to renewable energy and innovation.

Mizuno’s career spans leadership roles in private equity and banking, including as a partner at Coller Capital in London and
earlier roles with Sumitomo Trust and Banking Co., where he worked in Japan, Silicon Valley, and New York.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mizuno is deeply engaged in global initiatives advancing sustainable finance. He collaborates with leading organizations on issues related to climate, biodiversity, and financial innovation. He is active in academia, serving as an executive fellow at Harvard Business School, executive-in-residence at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, visiting fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School, and senior fellow at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is also a guest professor at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine.
