Heenam Choi is the president and CEO of CKD Holdings, chairman of the board of directors at Standard Chartered Bank Korea, and a senior fellow at the Milken Institute. He previously served as the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of the Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) beginning in March 2018. From 2020 to 2021, he acted as ambassador for financial cooperation.

Before joining KIC, Choi was the executive director at the International Monetary Fund, where he represented 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. He also served as executive director of the Asian Pacific Constituency at the World Bank Group.

Choi brings over 30 years of experience from Korea’s Ministry of Strategy and Finance, where he held various roles, including Deputy Minister for International Affairs, Director General of International Finance, Director General of International Financial Cooperation, Director of the International Financial Policy Division, and Director of the Foreign Exchange Market Division.

Earlier in his career, Choi was assistant secretary to the president for finance and economic affairs at the presidential office. He has also worked at the International Monetary Fund as an alternate executive director (2011–2012) and at the World Bank as an advisor (1999–2003). Choi earned a PhD in economics from the University of Pittsburgh and holds both an MBA in finance and a BA in economics from Hanyang University in Korea.
