Kaushik Burman

Founder, Spiro

Kaushik Burman is an experienced business leader with a broad set of experiences across leadership roles in Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East. His sector experience ranges from transportation and energy verticals – with focus on leading P&L, driving innovation and managing disruption. 

As Spiro’s CEO, Kaushik and his teams are building Africa’s largest electric mobility fleet and fastest growing battery swapping network. Spiro has deployed over 30,000 high quality electric motorbikes, powered by AI enabled battery swapping network – an aggregate of 18 million battery swaps has been exchanged over 500+ battery swapping stations. Drivers have clocked over 450 million kilometers of CO2 free journeys across 6 countries, which include Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. 

Kaushik has previously worked in MD at Gogoro, a NASDAQ listed electric mobility and battery swapping infrastructure company, where he led global expansion of Gogoro. Prior to joining Gogoro, he worked in Shell across Europe and Asia, leading diverse teams in sales, marketing and customer operations. He has also worked in Fortune 500 companies such as Nestle, Citibank and Tata group in sales, marketing and strategy functions. 

Kaushik holds an INSEAD Full-time MBA (2011), an advanced technology & policy program from Harvard Kennedy School. He is a trained Mechanical engineer from Univ College of Engineering (OU, Hyderabad) with Distinction, and, has an MBA from FMS Delhi. 

At INSEAD, Kaushik is a certified coach and faculty for executive programs on strategic disruption & digital with clients such as Schneider Electric, P&G, TCS, and Shell.
