Dr. Basma AlBuhairan is a transformative leader with over 25 years of experience, making a significant mark in healthcare, education, innovation, investment, emerging technologies, and culture. Her distinguished career highlights the growing influence of women leaders in Saudi Arabia, where she has shaped industries, guided institutions, and contributed to global dialogues. As a globally minded yet nationally rooted leader, Dr. Basma embodies the modern Saudi vision—strategic, inclusive, and committed to meaningful change. She has held senior roles at King Abdulaziz Medical City Riyadh, IBM, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital, Ministry of Investment, and the Research Development Innovation Authority where she developed cutting-edge healthcare facilities, attracted international life sciences organizations, and led and advanced large-scale projects.

Currently, she serves as Managing Director for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Saudi Arabia, which is a World Economic Forum Affiliate Centre, driving responsible governance of emerging and frontier technologies. A passionate advocate of mentorship and lifelong learning, she holds a PhD in Public Health, and two Master's in Public Health, and Molecular Biology.

Dr. AlBuhairan sits on several boards/councils, such as the WEF Global Future Councils on the Future of Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains. She is also a fellow of the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowships Organization and was awarded the Ward Wheelock Fellow Award in 2013.
