Michael Rothe

With over 15 years in inclusive FinTech and small enterprise finance, Michael brings extensive experience across emerging markets. Previously an advisor to the Central Bank of Uganda and an analyst at Citigroup Inclusive Finance, he has supported pioneering projects, including rolling out the world’s first-ever commercial refinancing line for microfinance with Citi and establishing regulatory foundations for FinTech in Uganda. He also helped scale a mobile wallet provider in Uganda to over 320,000 users. Michael’s expertise spans investment, regulatory, and start-up environments, working with organizations like KfW, GIZ, and the Central Bank of Egypt. He joins the conference as a representative of Flow, a semi-finalist for the Milken-Motsepe FinTech Prize, focused on expanding financial access for small businesses globally.
